Prest hits 94 to win Triggr-5
Triggr-5 was held on 27th May 2018.
A tricky breeze took the edge of the extreme heat but it made the layout tougher than it otherwise would have been. Before the Guns got going we predicted a high gun of 87/100.
The early pace was set by Mike Yeates who submitted a strong 84/100, he was in good company shooting alongside Damien Garner 83/100 and eventual B Class winner, Steve Riley, 80/100, who has come on in leaps and bounds over the last 12 months. Mike’s score was matched by Shaun Goth who was both relaxed and focussed throughout.
Mike and Shaun had their lead taken by Darren Lakeland who brought in a very impressive 89/100 that most in the clubhouse thought would be enough as word had got back that favourite Bryan Prest had dropped six on the arguably more straightforward first half of the course. It wasn’t to be, however, as Bryan steeled himself and straightened the second half to finish with a superb 94/100.
Bryan cut his shooting teeth on this ground back in the early 1990s and it’s always good to see him back with his trusty Miroku. As most know Bryan is one of the directors at Malmo Guns and it’s difficult to go to a shoot and score so well when people inevitably want to talk shop, so well done to him for staying switched on.
Colin Thomas 68/100 did the business in the C Class, that’s a none too shabby score in the conditions and with so much variety.
Top lady was Zoe Perkins with 74. Jo Atherton also shot well. It was great to see such a large number of lady shooters in attendance, that side of the sport is really picking up.
With the overwhelming majority of shooters opting to take part in the 100 Sporting main event, the field in the 50 Sporting was small. That said, the quality of shooting was high. M. Sharp just beat C. Timmins with 46 and 45 respectively in the A Class. D. Haworth won the B Class with 41 and R. Wagner won the C Class, also with 41. Well shot.
